GEAR & GADGETS WE LOVE

-

You’re standing at the braai, it’s dark out, and you’re almost sure the meat’s been done enough, but you need to give it that final close-up visual check. Problem is, with your beer in one hand and tongs in the other, your hands are full. So how do you hold your torch, too, for that closer look? The answer lies in a headlamp, and we’re confident in recommending the MH7 from Ledlenser.

First off, it’s rechargeable, so you needn’t worry about carrying spare batteries with you. It’s also powerful, with an output of up to 600 lumen, which, in boost mode, will reach as far as 200 m (overkill for the braai, but useful in many other situations). The batteries will last up to 40 hours in the lowest mode. Its settings include Power, Mid Power and Low Power, as well as Boost and Blink, and it boasts IPX4 (splashproof) and IP5X (dust-proof) ratings. The central head strap prevents the lamp from slipping down your forehead, and our favourite feature is the ability to alter the focus of the beam.
