FOGGY FIX

Wearing a face mask due to COVID-19 is now a necessity, however, many people with glasses will be well aware of the annoying situation of their lenses fogging up while wearing one. Remedies such as rubbing shaving cream on the lenses or washing them with soap often don’t work, as modern lenses generally have special coatings.

The best solution is to make your mask fit as snugly as possible over the bridge of your nose.

Fabric masks are popular – they’re washable and cost-effective, and can even be home-made. To make mine fit properly, I used a piece of flexible material that came from a discarded disposable face mask, over the outside of the mask. A paper clip, pipe cleaner or piece of semi-rigid electrical wire could also be used. In addition, I’ve removed the elastic that goes around the ears and replaced it with shoelaces. On the inside, I’ve stuck double-sided foam tape, and put a bit of Vaseline on the tape to stop it from sticking to my skin.

My mask now fits perfectly snugly, is comfortable, and does not cause my glasses to fog up.
