Prepare to launch – SpaceX’s Cargo Dragon and Falcon 9 rocket.
early in December last year, at the SpaceX hangar at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The upgraded version of the Cargo Dragon spacecraft can be seen front and centre, mounted on the colossal SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket, just prior to the whole assembly being rolled out to the launch pad in preparation for the 21st Commercial Resupply Services (CRS-21) launch.
Lift-off took place on 6 December, with the uncrewed Dragon spacecraft carrying more than 2 900 kg of scientific investigation equipment, supplies and other cargo to the International Space Station. Included in this delivery mission was the Nanoracks Bishop Airlock, the first commercially owned and operated airlock, that when installed will provide the space station with a variety of advanced capabilities, such as payload hosting, robotics testing, and satellite deployment.
