SAMSUNG GALAXY Z FLIP3
Aah, flip phones – there’s nothing quite as satisfying as that ‘snap’ sound as you close them. Well, the popular design is back and here to stay – Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip3 will likely convert many smartphone users into foldable fans, with its pleasing form and design.
While we loved simply opening and closing the Z Flip3, there’s a whole lot more to this device than clever mechanics and good looks (and an assortment of colour choices). It’s surprisingly durable, boasting an IPX8 waterproof rating and Corning Gorilla Glass. It features a Snapdragon 888 processor, two 12 MP cameras, and a crisp 6.7” display with a 1080p AMOLED panel that supports a speedy refresh rate of 120 Hz. The Z Flip3’s specs are comparative with almost any flagship phone.
Open, it feels like a conventional smartphone, with a crease that’s barely noticeable. One of its distinguishing features, though, is the cover display when it’s closed. It’s four times bigger than the previous model, equating to being about four times more userfriendly. You can personalise the display in several ways… Want to see the weather forecast, control music, or perhaps take selfies easily with the phone closed? No problem. Interestingly, using the phone half-open (yep, those hinges are strong) gives an almost split-screen experience, which is useful for video chats, selfies, or simply propping it up without requiring a stand.
The Galaxy Z Flip3 is Samsung’s ultimate pocketable smartphone, and something that stands out in the sea of glass slabs we’re now so used to.
