These lions are uniquely adapted to life in the rugged environmen­t of northwest Namibia:

» They live approximat­ely 2–4 years longer than savannah lions. (Males live for about 12 years, while the lifespan of females is around 13–15 years.)

» They will typically walk up to 40 km

during the night.

» They have larger territorie­s than savannah lions, covering some

3 000–3 500 km2.

» They do not need to necessaril­y seek water, as they receive adequate fluids from their diet if they are eating well. » They eat approximat­ely every five days, and consume up to 65 kg of meat in one sitting.
