Up-and-coming attorney opens practice in umhlanga Ridge

-

SHEENA Dasrath-Govender, one of the city’s upand-coming female attorneys, recently celebrated the launch of her own practice – SDG Attorneys and Conveyancers.

Ideally located at 7 on Millenium (opposite Standard Bank) in uMhlanga Ridge, the firm specialises in conveyancing and property, the administration of estates, divorces and family law, trusts and wills, commercial drafting, company law and registrations, litigation and compliance management.

These focus areas reflect both Dasrath-Govender’s specialist legal qualifications and her corporate experience.

After graduating with a LLB degree from the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) in 2008 and then completing her articles, she was admitted and enrolled as an attorney in October 2010. Not content to sit on her laurels, this dynamic gogetter pursued her interests in the commercial arena and continued to study further. Just a year after her enrollment, she was admitted as a conveyancer at the Pietermaritzburg High Court in October 2011, before then successfully completing her Masters (LLM) degree in Business Law in April 2012.

She also has right of appearance in the High Courts of South Africa and holds a Certificate in Compliance Management with the University of Cape Town. Corporate experience These impressive qualifications are complemented by the detailed, practical experience Dasrath-Govender has gained in her already accomplished career.

This extensive experience – which includes about three years in the legal field and two years in the corporate compliance field with a financial institution – is now being put to expert use within SDG Attorneys and Conveyancers.

“In addition, I believe my specialist qualification in business law will greatly benefit clients in need of advice of this nature,” elaborates Dasrath-Govender. BEE and ethics SDG Attorneys and Conveyancers has been independently rated in terms of the BroadBased Black Economic Empowerment Act (BBBEE) as a Level 3 Contributor with a recognition level of 110 percent.

“Being part of the previously disadvantaged group ourselves, we are committed to reducing the injustices of the past by assisting our disadvantaged clients with substantially reduced fees,” continues Dasrath-Govender.

“Similarly, from an ethics point of view, we are committed to ensuring that the firm conducts its practice with integrity towards clients and adversaries. Every effort is made to create a culture and value system that clients are proud to be associated with – both now and in the future.” Fees The fees charged by SDG Attorneys and Conveyancers are determined by a range of factors, including: the nature of the matter, the complexity, the seriousness/importance of the outcome, the volume of work involved, the time it would take to be finalised; and the experience of the person attending to the matter.
