You are a precious gem in our lives

-

MY NAME is Trusha Reddy and I would like to express my appreciation to my mom, Leela Ramsern, for being such an incredible inspiration in my life.

Being woman's month I want to honour her and I believe that this would be the perfect way to express myself.

My mom is simple and humble. She's a person who would go out of her way for any person, whether related or not.

I always had been a “daddy's girl” and did not have a strong bond with my mom, but since my dad’s passing 16 years ago, I began to see my mom in a different light.

Being the only child, I came to understand how my mom struggled to conceive me and the physical struggles she endured to give me life.

My mom had me after 10 years of marriage and numerous miscarriages.

After all the medical procedures she went through after her previous miscarriages, doctors discovered she had developed cancerous cells in her womb.

When she was expecting me at the time she had to be hospitalised because another miscarriage threatened. I was her last chance to have a child, something both my parents longed for.

After nine anxious months I was born. She had to have her womb removed after my birth. She made the sacrifice of not having any more children so that she could be there for me.

She always did everything possible for me from birth and she still does, even though I am now a wife and mother of two.

I grew up within an extended family arrangement and the duties of cooking, washing, cleaning for my dad’s brothers and sisters fell on her shoulders. However, she still made the time for me.

After the sudden passing of my dad, my mom went through a very difficult time, but she still emerged a strong woman and had great strength to overcome all the obstacles - big or small - that had been thrown in our path.

Over the years my mom’s health wasn't the best and she went through many illnesses, but her fighting spirit always surfaced and she pulled through.

In 2009, mom went for major eye surgery and wasn't able to see, yet she was still able to take care of my twoyear-old daughter, Kiara, so perfectly. I want you to know mom that I am so blessed to have you in my life.

You are truly a “Mother India” and I love you a lot. I hope that one day I too can be the phenomenal woman and incredible mother that you are .

To my mom who turns 66 on November 4, thank you for always being there for Morgan, our children Kiara and Juve and me. You are a precious gem in our lives and we love you!
