‘I want to see my son’s killer’

- CANDICE SOOBRAMONEY

SHALA Devi Moodley wants to face her son’s alleged killer.

She intends travelling from her Durban home to Volksrust in Mpumalanga in October to see the 27-year-old accused.

The man was arrested last Friday in connection with the murder of Dhalip Mohabir and his partner, Emmegene Brussow, in July.

They were murdered with garden tools and left to decompose for at least a week at their home.

Mohabir, 48, and Brussow, 37, were so battered and bruised that they were unrecognisable to family.

His body was found on the bed and his partner on the lounge floor.

Moodley said she wanted to face the alleged killer and ask him a question. “I want to go to the Volksrust Magistrate’s Court to see this cold hearted murderer. I want to ask him what joy did he get by taking two innocent lives.”

She said she cried and prayed every day that police find the killer and God had answered her prayers.

Warrant Officer Dominique Steyn said the motive for the double murder was not known at this stage and the accused was wanted in connection with other crimes.

He is being detained at the holding cells at Volksrust police station.

Mohabir and Brussow, who had known each other for 10 years, were from Hillary, Durban.
