WHEN Bollywood bombshell Bipasha Basu teams up with Pakistani-born model-turned actor, Imraan Abbas Naqvi, for a Vikram Bhatt science fiction thriller, one would expect nothing less than a hair-raising, action-packed entertainer that would have you at the edge of your seat, right? Not quite!

When the trailer was released in July for Bollywood’s first ‘Creature Feature,’ expectations were raised, as one anticipated nothing less than brilliance from the ace film-maker Vikram, who also made the successful Raaz movies.

Well prepare yourself for some disappointment, because apart from the spectacular 3D effects, and Bipasha in the lead role, the story line of Creature 3D, is merely a stereotypical take on the usual Hollywood science fiction thrillers.

The movie, which has some unintentional tongue in cheek humour and many loopholes, tells the tale of Ahana Dutt (Bipasha), looking for new beginnings after her father commits suicide.

She turns to the forests of Himachal Pradesh, where she decides to open a guest lodge.

As she is finding her feet with

Bipasha Basu stars in Creature 3D. her new business venture, a guest is killed, and so begins the nightmare of bloodbaths at her lodge.

This time, fear has a new face – a ruthless, blood-thirsty creature that leaves behind a trail of bodies.

Instead of running for her life, Ahana joins forces with her guests, Professor Sadana (Mukul Dev) and Kunal (Imran Abbas), and together they attempt to fight the beast.

Bipasha, who was last seen in Humshakals, delivers a convincing performance as the heroine in Creature 3D, but it is hard for me not to compare her performance to that in Raaz 3, in which she was mind-blowing.

Overall, I expected much more from Bhatt, who in my view, simply used a common plot and gave it a new package.

The best part of the movie is its soundtrack, composed by the talented Mithoon, famous for delivering the chartbuster Tum Hi Ho from Aashiqui 2.

The sound track features Sawaan Aaya, which is sure to make its way to the top of the charts.

Creature 3D gets a 6 out of 10 rating and despite the disappointments, Bipasha fans will enjoy her performance as a brave heroine, saving the day.

Your teenagers will certainly enjoy this one, especially the special effects.

The movie is showing at Ster Kinekor cinemas at The Zone@Rosebank and Gateway.
