Rahman scores notable success at Google HQ
ACE composer AR Rahman visited Googleplex (Google headquarters) last week for a fireside chat hosted by Sridhar Ramaswamy.
The chat was a major coup and Rahman answered every question.
After the success of O Kadhal Kanmani, directed by Mani Ratnam, the award-winning composer will be composing music for both Achcham Enbadhu Madamaiyada, starring Simbu and directed by Gautham Menon, and 24, starring Suriya and directed by Vikram Kumar.
If that were not enough, Rahman is also scoring the music for an Iranian film, Muhammad, and the English movie Pele, based on the Brazilian football legend.
ACTOR and film-maker Ragava Lawrence’s Tamil comic horror, Kanchana 2, which recently completed a 50-day run in theatres, has grossed over Rs 100 crore (R19 million) at the box office worldwide.
It’s the first blockbuster of this year in Tamil cinema. It has done phenomenal business and continues to run to packed houses in select theatres across Tamil Nadu.
Said to have been made on a budget of Rs 17 crore, Kanchana 2 has also turned out to be the most successful venture

Nitya Menon and Taapsee Pannu played his leading ladies. According to Lawrence, Kanchana 3 is currently in the scripting stage.
MUSIC enthusiasts thronged the Centenary Auditorium at the University of Madras recently.
The occasion was a musical evening with performances by well-known musicians from the industry.
The list of singers, who mesmerised the audience with renditions of popular numbers, included SP Balasubramanium, Karthik and Geetha Madhuri. The audience were spotted humming to tunes and relishing every song the singers performed on stage.
A few from the audience even asked the singers for their favourite numbers, and they happily obliged.
Singers Kalpana and Charan were also spotted in the audience enjoying the music.
Afterwards the singers took time to meet each other and exchange pleasantries. They even posed for photographs.
Most of them were dressed traditionally and looked classy and elegant.

The Rajinikanth-Ranjith project has finally got its official status!
According to an authentic statement, the still untitled film will be directed by Ranjith.
It will be produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu for V Creations.
Music will be handled by Santhosh Narayanan and photography by G Murali.
Praveen KL will be editing the movie, which is set to start filming in August in Malaysia and is expected to go on for 60 days there.
After this, 60 more days of shooting will proceed in Thailand, Hong Kong and Chennai.
Director Ranjith made the film Madras and his fans, too, are celebrating this achievement.
