Diwali festival to light Gold Reef City

THE SOUTH African Hindu Maha Sabha (SAHMS), Gauteng branch, will host the 2015 Gauteng Diwali Festival on October 31 at the Gold Reef City theme park.

The festival will be opened with a mass universal “unity havan” performed by priests from various Hindu linguistic groups.

There will be food, trading stalls and a kids activity area, and dance, music and song.

A “temple tent” will be provided for visitors to offer worship and enjoy bhajans, kirtans and Prasadam.

For its seva project, the SAHMS and Food for Life will also do a feeding scheme for the aged and children’s homes.

The festival will culminate in a fireworks display and a bhangra bash hosted by Lotus FM.
