POST/ Fry’s Curr y Cook-off

-

THE aroma of curries will permeate the air around Sibaya Casino on Saturday when 10 finalists go head-to-head in the POST/ Fry’s Curry Cook-off competition.

The cook-off will take place at the boma enclosure (near the iZulu Theatre), but if it rains it will move to a marquee in the car park. This will be sign-posted.

From Kashmiri Shahi Pilau to Creamy Chicken Curry, the pots will be bubbling when the competition gets under way at 10am.

Judges Deena Naidoo, Asha Maharaj, Sanjeen Ramsuroop and Thigam Nathoo will preside.

There will also be enough food for guests who attend. On the menu for the public will be Sesame-Crusted Prawn-style Pieces and nuggets for snacks. Starters will be Chilli Baked Beans, Coleslaw and a Greens and Citrus Salad. The main course will consist of Potjie Mutton-style Curry, traditional burgers, hot dogs, stir-fry with chicken-style strips and braai sausage and veggie skewers… Yum yum!

Guests can also look forward to a scintillating display of belly dancing and get to show their own moves.

The Fry’s Free Rangers (dressed in green body suits) will be there. Snap a selfie with them, put it online with #CurryCookOff, and stand a chance to win a Fry’s hamper valued at R500 .

This is an event you cannot afford to miss out on, and here’s the best part: it’s free.

However, due to the space constraints only 200 guests can be accommodated. Entry (from 9.30am) will be on a first come, first served basis.

The 10 finalists who will put their cooking skills to the test on Saturday are:
