They want to be free

-

SOMETIMES I think there are only two types of people; the dreamers and the realists. The realists are methodical, cautious beings. They think and they overthink, they consider the consequences and outcomes. They suss out people from a distance. They plan and they plan, and then they plan some more. They make lists and keep records of things. They love files. You can identify people like this easily. Their clothes are always clean and ironed. They always have pens. Their hair is neat. Their e-mails are in bullet form. They are always the people who have things. Sweets, cigarettes, paper, life insurance. They put things back in their place. Because everything has a place.

They’re also a little intense and so wound up that you can sense an impending outburst bubbling away beneath the throbbing vein. They also kind of expect everyone else to live under their strict, crazy code.

It takes quite a bit of internal work to calmly allow people to be different and not get furious about how they choose to do things. They hate doing nothing. They remember everything. They are terribly impatient. They fear the weird and the unknown.

But sometimes they wish to secretly be a little more loose; a little dreamier, a little more... free.

Dreamers are easier to nail. As in, to identify, and not what you thought. Although... Everyone knows a dreamer. There’s always one in every family, in every group of friends. They think and they overthink too. They can’t help but argue. They question everything. They are stubborn and easily distracted. Their clothes are messy and they are allergic to schedules and panic at the thought of having to RSVP for anything.

They leave behind a little trail of chaos wherever they go. They spill things and they never finish their food. They walk into things and forget what they were saying, or doing, or what they said they would do.

They are hopeless romantics who live in their own heads, and fall in love at least twice a day.

They are reactive beings; they will worry about things later. Or just ignore them and carry on anyway. They have too many ideas, and want to be everywhere at once.

They are always disappearing, and terrible at texting. They like being on their own, and they love doing nothing. They are terribly impatient. They are seduced by the weird and the unknown. But secretly, they yearn to have more control, and they wish they could be a little more organised, a little more... grounded, so that they could be a little more... free.
