The joys of motherhood

-

SORAJ Pillay, 56, a mother of three and grandmother of four, works in the quality division at Smiths Manufacturing and lives in Chatsworth, answers the following questions:

What is the one thing about being a mother that has changed your life?

Wow, being a mother has changed everything. You no longer think about yourself, everything you do is for your kids. They are always on your mind and forever in your heart. You want to change the world so that nothing bad happens to them. The Bible says that children are a blessing from God and so my husband and I have tried our best with what was in our hands to bring up our kids the right way.

Would you be a full-time mother, if you had the resources?

I was a full-time mother for a number of years and it was the most rewarding part of my life. The look on my kid’s faces when they got home from school and the first person they saw was me. Priceless!!

What was the funniest things any of your kids did or said over the years?

The one that sticks out is a game that my children used to play together. It was actually a “policeman game” and my two boys and my daughter would be cops and they would try to catch the “bad guys”, talk on their imaginary walkie-talkies and be so serious about it. It was quite hilarious especially the names they gave to each other (which I will not mention here)!!
