Gopio conference
MEMBERS of the Global Organisation of People of Indian Origin (Gopio) will converge at the Coastlands Hotel in uMhlanga from May 19 to 20 for an global business summit, aimed at connecting, sharing and engaging with persons of Indian origin and non-resident Indians.
Business leaders from almost 50 countries will discuss topics ranging from health and cultural and academic issues to facilitating, promoting and advancing business and entrepreneurship alliances with global PIOs, NRI and India.
Gopio International, founded at the First Global Convention of People of Indian Origin in New York in 1989, is a non-partisan, non-sectarian and non-profit organisation.
The initial thrust of Gopio was to fight human rights violations of overseas Indians.
With improvement in the lifestyles of overseas Indians and their assimilation in the adopted countries, Gopio has now set its priorities in pooling its resources, both financial and professional, for the benefit of the global Indian diaspora, the countries they come from and India.
The conference’s theme is Indiaspora Building Africa Through Opportunities Beyond Frontier.
