Burglars add insult to injury in second break-in

- CHARLENE SOMDUTH

A GREENWOOD Park resident, whose home was burgled over a week ago, was left fuming when thieves struck again on Friday night, taking everything in sight, including five bottles of alcohol.

The robbers, said Greg Isaacs, also urinated in his bedroom before escaping.

Isaacs said he felt violated and hoped police would find the culprits before they struck again.

“How can you take everything from a person? This is an invasion of my privacy.”

Isaacs said he had returned home from a business trip in Cape Town about a week ago to find his home had been burgled.

Concerned about his safety, he hired security guards to keep watch on his home while he lived with friends.

A few days later, he told the guards he no longer needed their services as things had seemingly returned to normal.

With no security in sight and Isaac still staying with friends, the robbers struck again on Friday night.

This time they cleaned out his four-bedroom home.

“I was still shaken by the first robbery and did not want to be at home. I continued to live with friends but on Friday, I decided to go to my house to check on things,” he said.

“The suspects had entered through a sliding door on my balcony.

“Everything from my groceries, linen, clothing and even my queen-sized bed was taken. All my shoes are gone. I am left with what I am wearing.”

For the father of one, the cherry on top, he said, was that the robbers had helped themselves to his alcohol and urinated on his bedroom floor.

“They also took my television, my gas stove, canteens of cutlery and my curtains.”

He had lost so much but still had to pay for additional security, he said.

“This is not fair. No one should go through an ordeal like this. I only hope the suspects are apprehended before striking again.”

Police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Thulani Zwane said a case of house robbery was being investigated.
