Zee to add new shows to channel

- CHANELLE LUTCHMAN

LOYAL viewers of ZeeTV, ZeeWorld and ZeeBolly are in for a treat next month as Zee South Africa introduces a variety of series, live shows and movies to its respective channels.

Haresh Goyal, of Zee TV South Africa, said the team planned to keep its audience glued to their screens by giving them what they want.

“Every four to six months we conduct surveys where we go out to people and ask them what they would like to see,” explained Goyal.

“We are introducing series’ like Piyaa Albea, Woh Aapa Sa and Dance India Dance season 2 to ZeeTV, the latest movies including Raees, Dear Zindagi and Dangal to ZeeBolly and My Lost Home, a story about three sisters, Fire and Ice, about two people who fall in love but have feuding mothers, Bridge to Cross about a woman, who has seven mothers-in-law, and the return of Krishi to ZeeWorld.”

Goyal said Zee, which had 1.5 billion viewers worldwide, introduced ZeeWorld to South Africa in February 2015 and had not expected the huge viewership.

“It is not only Indians watching but groups from across the board. We have channels in countries like Nigeria and it’s surprising that our channels get more traction than the local ones.”

Apart from introducing new content until April, Zee South Africa is also hoping to incorporate local shows.

“The ideas are already there and we are trying to work on a Dance Africa Dance show but it takes time and we are still in the early stages.”

Apart from new content, viewers will also notice a logo change on ZeeTV and ZeeWorld.

“We kept the same logo for 15 years and felt it was time for change. The new logo colours are more vibrant and we are sure people will love the new look to the channels.”

On Saturday, ZeeTV introduced three new shows: Voice India Kids, Hum Parch Vhirse and Offbeat Australlia.
