‘Finest cop’ movie
FILM: Theeran Adhigaram Ondru DIRECTOR: H Vinoth
CAST: Karthi, Rakul Preet Singh, Bose Venkat and Abhimanyu Singh RATING: 9/10
REVIEWER: Michael Lachimiah THEERAN Adhigaram Ondru (TAO), directed by H Vinoth, is one of the finest cop stories in the Tamil movie world.
The film is based on a real life incident, which took place between the mid-’90s and early millennium.
Award-winning Kollywood actor Karthi plays Theeran, an honest, no nonsense cop, who is married to Priya, portrayed by the vivacious Rakul Preet Singh.
Theeran takes on a ruthless and barbaric gang from North India, who mercilessly butchers families living along a secluded stretch of highway in Tamil Nadu.
The gang leaves no clues and the police go around in circles and at times close the cases.
After a local’s house is ravaged, Theeran painstakingly follows forensic clues and scrutinises thousands of fingerprints until he finally nails the culprits.
But it ends up being a painful victory – as he loses everything just to arrest the deadly gang.
Karthi’s months of painstakingly working with senior members of the Tamil Nadu State Police paid off handsomely.
Abhimanyu Singh, as the deadly gangster, should receive oodles of offers for more villainous roles.
With just two movies under his direction, Vinoth should and must be applauded for offering discerning cinema goers a neatly packaged gem of a movie.
Stunt director Dhilip Subburayan deserves special credit for his well choreographed sequences.
They are gritty and harrowing. He knows exactly how to rev up the adrenalin of Kollywood action movie fans.
Cinematographer, Sathyan Sooryan proves himself a wizard with the camera. The desert sequences are jaw dropping and one can literally taste the dust and feel the heat.
Ghibran does not disappoint in the music and background score.
The film is an engaging watch and is showing at CineCentre SunCoast.
