The Divine Life Society of South Africa will celebrate the 131st birth anniversary of Sri Swami Sivananda on September 8 at the Sivanandashram in Reservoir Hills. There will be a morning session from 6 to 7am, chanting until 2pm, ganga aarti at 4pm and satsangh at 4.30pm. Supper will be served. It will continue the following day at its premises in La Mercy. A Shri Hanuman Chalisa recital will take place at 6am, satsangh at the stadium at 10am and a cultural programme from 1.30pm. Breakfast and lunch will be served.

The Shree Veeraboga Emperumal Temple will host concerts for the month of Purtassi. One will take place at the Chinna Thirupathi Venketeswara Devasthanam in oThongathi on September 20 and the other at the Mount Edgecombe Shree Emperumal Temple on October 14. The Orient Boys Association will host its 51st AGM on Friday at the Orient Islamic Hall in Centenary Road at 7pm. The keynote speaker will be life coach Junaid Bayat.

PRAYERS

The Hillgrove Vishnu Shakti Mandir will observe Shri Krishna Janmastami on Monday and Shri Ganesh Chaturti on September 13 at the AMF Temple Hall in Newlands West.

The Shree Gopal Lal Hindu Temple in Temple Valley, Verulam, will observe Gita Week until Monday. The programme includes daily discourses on weekdays at 6.30pm and weekends from 4pm. Krishna Janmastami will be observed on September 3 from 6.30pm until midnight.

The Shri Luxmi Narayan Temple will hold Gita recitals daily from 6pm to 8pm on weekdays and from 4pm to 6pm on weekends until Sunday. Krishna Janmastami will be observed on Monday from 7pm.
