Coloured spray to mark rapists

-

WOMEN’S Month has just passed and it was quite encouraging to see people all over the world rallying to support gender based abuse.

Media reports exposed the horrific atrocities that women experience from their male counterparts.

A good example is the experiences relayed by the unfortunate women of Rohingya and the increased incidents of rape in India.

Here in South Africa, it seems there are many men who do not understand the meaning of “no”.

It is time for women to be protected from this scourge.

One innovative solution could be for women to be armed with a type of pepper spray cannister.

This spray must not just be a pepper spray that incapacitates the perpetrator, but it must squirt a bright colour – an indelible dye that remains on the culprit for a long time and is similar to the ink that is dabbed on our thumbnail when we cast our vote.

I am sure that women, using such a weapon, would assist law enforcement officers to easily identify rapists and would-be rapists.

Remember that, many decades ago, the Bushmen used the blood of the eland to create their famous “Bushmen paintings” and these still exist today.

I am certain such a pepper spray solution would rapidly reduce the scourge of gender based abuse against women all over the world .
