Moonsamy on the move

-

RIVALDO Moonsamy has been quietly making a name for himself in the powerful Titans middle order.

At just 22 years of age, Moonsamy has already become a regular at Centurion, in both whiteball and red-ball cricket.

The right-hander announced himself to cricketing circles when he made the South Africa under-19 World Cup squad in 2016.

Moonsamy showed his ability to score freely, and the Titans quickly moved to secure his services.

Added to his batting, Moonsamy is also a handy option as a wicket-keeper, bringing depth and balance to his team.

He has repaid the faith shown in him, and has already helped himself to more than 1 000 first-class runs for Northerns and the Titans. His maiden four-day century for the Titans came against the Warriors last year, and his growing influence has also seen him feature more and more in the One-Day Cup.

Last season, with most of the Titans’ national players away, Moonsamy took on a bigger role in the side, playing his part in a charge that eventually led to the Sunfoil Series title, to add to the T20 Challenge.

His efforts were rewarded with a nomination as best “newcomer” at the franchise’s end-of-season awards.

He was ultimately pipped by Andrea Agathagelou, but he has certainly solidified his place in a packed middle order.

Already this season he was part of the Titans’ historic tour of the Seychelles, and he has just left with them on another maiden voyage.

The Titans are off to Abu Dhabi to take part in a T20 championship that will see them lock horns with some of the finest domestic teams in the world.

One thing is for sure, and that is that Rivaldo Moonsamy will be in the mix, contributing strongly with the bat. – Sports Reporter
