Deadly crash, 2 killed

DUBBED the “highway of death”, the M4 has claimed the lives of two more people.

Biker Malvin Naidoo, 24, and Logambal Mudly, 57, also known as Ragini, were killed when a bike and a Toyota Corolla collided on the notorious highway near the uMhlanga on ramp on Sunday.

Mudly was travelling north with her husband and Naidoo in the opposite direction when the crash happened.

Several emergency services were called to the scene including Reaction Unit South Africa, Verulam Crime Monitoring and KZN VIP.

Prem Balram, director of RUSA, said they were alerted about the incident around 11.26am.

Balram said Naidoo and Mudly died at the scene.

“The biker was found several metres away from the point of impact. His bike disintegra­ted in the high impact collision.

“The driver of the Toyota Corolla sustained moderate injuries and was transporte­d to Victoria Hospital by ambulance,” he said.

Messages of condolence­s poured through on Facebook, most bearing testament to the type of people Mudly and Naidoo were.

Naidoo was said to be an avid biker and commuted between Durban and Johannesbu­rg as he worked as a technician for SAA. Mudly is from Empangeni and was visiting family at the time of the accident.

KZN SAPS spokespers­on, Colonel Thembeka Mbhele said a case of culpable homicide was being investigat­ed.
