SPARE THE ROD AND DEVELOP RESPONSIBLE, LOVING CITIZENS:

Romaine Narain: I will discipline my child according to my beliefs. Also, no one has the right to discipline my child except me. I think if parents take responsibility for disciplining their children, the world will be a better place. Also, there’s a huge difference between abuse and disciplining your child.

Shane Ruthnum: There is visual proof of what sparing the rod has done to our kids. SA law is a breeding ground for corruption. I will stick to my proven methods no matter what the law says. This law will hold me responsible for how my kids behave yet will not be answerable for the type of children I bring up and so should not dictate as to how I raise my kid.

Tracy Naicker: Discipline and sparing the rod are different from abuse. We must understand that. While we definitely need disciplinary measures, there are many who are being abused. We need to stand for both (and) fight for both causes because in the past nobody died from discipline. The laws that are being passed down are not coming from those of wisdom, knowledge and understanding. It’s coming from people who are erasing pressure off their back.

Adrian Pillay: It’s irresponsible laws like this that have landed our country where it is today. There’s a total lack of discipline and a total lack of respect. If it’s studied in-depth, there will be a direct link to the banning of corporal punishment to the high crime rate. The saying is indeed true – spare the rod, spoil the child.

Charlene Naicker Pillay: My discipline has been good so far.

GRAN DENIES CLAIM SHE PAID HEALER WITH JEWELLERY WORTH R1M TO BRING BACK LOST LOVER: Maggie Govender: With all due respect but this is the height of all stupidity. Every day people are warned about this. There are people called doctors. Please keep your faith and trust in them rather. Shaileen Singh: People must understand that no sangomas or traditional healers are going to do anything for you. Only God can help you. He gives you life and he takes you when the time is right, so why are some people so gullible? The Almighty is the answer – just have faith and trust him. Kalpana Patel: People are so gullible.

SUPPORT FOR HINDU POLITICAL PARTY:

Kim Ryno: Yes! And then Eid also. We love public holidays.

Aniel Poolaraj: They will never allow such… Christmas is a holiday because it’s festive. Roland Darryl Nobin: Eish… religion and politics. Nooit Brah!

Vemila Reddy: Pray it happens. Roanne Johnson: About time. Long overdue.

Tracy Naicker: I love holidays. I hope it comes through. But just out of concern, what must the rest of the people do, who don’t celebrate Diwali? That’s a lot of people. Everybody celebrates Christmas because it’s the holidays.

Nirandran Keegan Naicker: Our economy cannot afford another public holiday. This party should acquire the services of an economist.

Sandra Naicker-Pillay: Excellent. We are waiting way too long.

Prianka Sookan: Please do this. For our Indian people. Maybe a petition so we all represent.

Chhota Ivar: Last 50 years people were campaigning for this!

Nireshini Naicker: Really! All we need is another dead beat party promising us the world… done and dusted.

Khalid Amod: Agree. All our religious days, like Diwali and Eid, should be holidays. Kuvashinie Vengadesan: We should not be sidelined any more.
