Bail extension for murder accused
THE bail of a Chatsworth man accused of killing his wife has been extended until his trial starts in the Durban High Court next May.
Navin Chanderlal, 53, of Silverglen, was charged with the murder of retired nurse Vathaniagee “Jennifer” Pillay, 65, in January this year.
The mother of two was found in the bathtub at their home in December last year.
The indictment, presented by State advocate Krishan Shah, was served on Chanderlal in the Chatsworth Magistrate’s Court last month.
The State alleged Pillay grew apart from Chanderlal and that she wanted to divorce him.
