Sister speaks out

-

THIS is with regard to the story “Why didn’t God save my son” (the POST, December 18 – 22).

I would like to rectify and clarify some of the incorrect information pertaining to the untimely death of my brother, Vinod Ramdheen.

First, my brother was 48 years old and a father of three (aged 14, 12 and 7 months old).

The article stated that my father knew who was responsible for or orchestrated the shooting. This is speculation on my dad’s part and cannot possibly be admitted as the truth.

The police are still conducting investigations and at this juncture, it is impossible to determine the perpetrators until the investigations are complete.

My brother was certainly not hated by a lot of people. On the contrary, he was an upstanding member of the community, who strived to do the best he could to give back to those less fortunate than himself. He was religious, generous, gentle, kind, respected, loved and, in short, a philanthropist.

With regard to the statement inferring family involvement, this again is speculation. Any and all businesses and business owners have outstanding debtors, which cannot be attributed to their untimely death.

We belong to a tight-knit family and this violent, unjustified, heinous crime has taken a toll on our family, obviously leaving us feeling traumatised and emotionally scarred.

We cannot fathom who would want to harm an individual who had so much to offer to both his family and the society in which he lived.

He was the pillar, so to speak, of our family, and to lose him will take us a lifetime to adjust to.

My brother was responsible for the well-being of my elderly parents, who depended upon him for their basic needs. He did not frequent the casinos and I fail to see the relevance of that statement to the overall message of the article.
