Sorry Pravin, Indians shouldn’t vote for ANC

-

I DISAGREE with Pravin Gordhan that Indians should vote for his renewed and cleansed party, the ANC.

He says the ANC creates a diverse society that accommodates all. Not true. Maybe for him and his family and not for Indians in general, who are discriminated for jobs and places in medical school.

The ANC introduced the contentious BEE (black economic empowerment), a policy that is failing the people it is meant to help.

The benefits of BEE have been reaped by a narrow group of cabals, clans, cliques, coteries and crooks.

BEE means, to me, black elite enrichment or black elite entitlement.

BEE is exploited by the elite few while the poor and disenfranchised continue to suffer. Indians are not given the equal and fair opportunities that we deserve.

What did Gordhan do when Indian students with top marks were not given a chance to study medicine, but blacks with lower marks were accepted instead?

What did Gordhan do when Indians were discriminated for jobs in the government sector?

Nothing, because he earns a fat salary, unlike most of minority Indians.

I work for the government with 33 years of service, and I am 12 years in my current rank but I cannot get promoted because I’m Indian.

I have the service, the experience and the qualification for the posts I apply for, but other people with lesser service and years in rank get promoted.

How come?

What are the criteria for promotions? Is it that you must pay or should competency and qualification determine the best candidate and not race?

In the words of Professor Brij Maharaj, we should focus on capability and ability and not the colour of your skin.

ANC MEC Sihle Zikalala said Indians and coloureds must be excluded from state contracts exceeding R50m.

What is Gordon saying about this? Nothing, because Zikalala is ANC.

There is bribery and corruption within the government, but nothing is being done.

People leave this country because there is no future for them. People like Christelle Govender, who emigrated to Ohio, and Noveshni Moodley to Illinois, both in the US, and Magdelene Naidoo to Abu Dhabi (the POST, May 7 – 11, 2019).

BEE and affirmative action are driving skilled workers out of the country, which has had disastrous consequences for the economy.

BEE forced companies to employ people who are not capable or skilled, while Indian and coloured citizens are affected the most.

People should be employed on skills and merit and not on race and gender.

A vote for the ANC means more emigration, more crime, more service delivery protests, more land invasions and land grabs and more unemployment.

It also means higher petrol prices, more corruption, a dwindling economy, depreciation of the rand, billions in foreign exchange leaving South Africa, more comrade deployment, alliance deployment in key management posts and this list goes on.

What is being done to the corrupt ANC politicians who have looted the state coffers of hundreds of millions of taxpayers’ money?

A vote for the ANC means those implicated in corrupt dealings will return as cabinet ministers.

In 2003, Mr van Zyl Slabbert recommended a constituency-based electoral system, which was shelved by the ANC (Thabo Mbeki). Why?

Why vote for the ANC?

Will the ANC take the country to where it deserves to be and unleash its full potential?

How will their interests be tamed so that they serve the public interest?

In the words of political analyst Mpumelelo Mkhabela, why must we believe they won’t be corrupt and that they won’t weaken state institutions and subject them to decay?

By voting for the ANC and President Cyril Ramaphosa, what will we possibly be saving, when we lost everything already.

Did he save Eskom, the SABC, Sars, VBS?

The list is endless of the corruption and thieving of state funds.

Who from Eskom is in jail?

A vote for ANC and we will die as a country.
