Protest leader’s ‘pack of lies’
ON DECEMBER 23, a Muslim woman appeared on Morning Live on SABC 2.
She represented protesters calling themselves South Africans Against Apartheid India.
She spat venom at India because of the Citizenship Amendment Act – for allegedly granting citizenship to all migrants except Muslims. I have never heard such a pack of lies on our TV stations before. The Act grants citizenship to minority groups (Hindus, Buddhists, Sikhs, Parsees and Christians).
They escaped religious persecution in three Muslim majority countries (Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh) and have been languishing in refugee camps since their arrival in India before December 31, 2014 – not any other group arriving since then.
So it is a lie to say all migrants except Muslims. If these refugees from the
Islamic countries are not granted citizenship, they will continue to be treated as illegal immigrants and could be jailed or deported back to the Islamic countries, where they could be killed or forced to convert.
If they are women, they could be abducted and raped, and if Christian, they could be sold as brides to the Chinese.
The second claim by these activists was that Muslims are also persecuted in Pakistan – such as the Ahmadiyyas. All well and good.
But the million dollar question is: Why did she and fellow activists not organise a group called South Africans Against Apartheid Pakistan for persecuting these Ahmadiyyas?
