How to pray now:

- JANINE MOODLEY

SOME places of worship have opted to reopen this week and operate with caution, while others have chosen to remain closed to ensure their congregants’ safety.

New Covenant Fellowship in Redhill, the Durban Christian Centre in Mayville and Christ Church Newlands in Newlands West will not open during level 3 of the lockdown.

The Grey Street Mosque (Juma Masjid) in the Durban CBD, the Habibia Soofie Saheb Masjid in Durban North and all other soofie mosques in Durban will remain closed. So too will the Shri Vishnu Temple in Pietermaritzburg.

President Cyril Ramaphosa sanctioned the reopening of places of worship, provided every worshipper wore a mask, worship centres were sanitised before and after services, and a maximum of 50 people were allowed at a time at the venue.

The POST garnered the views of religious leaders and officials on places of worship being opened. Some of them were for and against the reopening.
