Congratulations to the matric class of 2020
THERE were so many pages dedicated to matric high achievers in the POST of February 24-28.
It was about their happiness and success. This will remain a memorable day for KwaZulu-Natal.
The POST will definitely be a collector’s item judging by the number of successful matriculants.
Let’s not forget Star College with 3 200 distinctions, which has made the province proud.
I would like to extend, on behalf of all the POST readers, my congratulations.
Your undeterred spirit, your hard work in these unprecedented times, have now reaped the benefits.
After months of interruptions and false starts from Covid-19, the matric class of 2020 must be praised for the excellent results of 76.2 % – which is a decline of 3.7% from 2019.
While thousands celebrate their achievements, let us not forget those who did not make it. It is not a time to despair.
There will be another chance to qualify for your matric certificate. I urge parents to support their children and take extra care of them.
Learners who have passed will need to adopt a holistic approach when choosing their career paths.
Considering the challenges this year, with talk of a third wave, teachers and pupils must show true commitment over the holidays, weekends and via online learning.
Maybe it’s time for a task team of educators to be put in place to improve and ensure an uninterrupted 2021.
Every pupil should remember that success is not permanent. The same is also true of failure.
