TWO children watched helplessly as their mother was assaulted and taken during a robbery at their home in Lenasia South in Gauteng on Thursday.

Nadira Vanker, 31, a teacher at Progress Primary School, has still not been found.

Her mother, Naheema Vanker, said according to her grandchildren, two men entered the flat that morning.

“The men assaulted the children and then Nadira.

“They grabbed her by her hands and feet and carried her into her vehicle before driving off.

“My grandchildren ran to my home, which is nearby, and knocked at my door.

“They were screaming and traumatised. They told me that someone was in the house and that they took their mother away.”

She said when she went to the home to see what had happened, no one was there.

“The children are worried about their mother. We have not received any communication from her kidnappers. We have been searching for her.

“We put up posts on social media. We are praying for her safe return and hope the police will be able to locate her.”

Imraan Moosa, a councillor for the area, said Nadira Vanker’s vehicle, a Honda Accord, was found abandoned in the Ennerdale area.

“Serious efforts have been made to find her. The SAPS has a special team handling the case. It is a sensitive matter. Her children and pupils are all traumatised by her disappearance. We need the community to keep a lookout for her."

Sergeant Mvula Khalipha, Lenasia South SAPS spokesperson, confirmed a case of kidnapping is being investigated.
