Praying for everyone to be healthy

BISHOP Bernard Coopasamy, the leader at U Centre in Shallcross, said as a church they were trying to ensure their congregants were safe from any suspected Covid cases.

The church had also committed to encouraging its members to be tested and treated in the case of infection.

Coopasamy said since the restrictions had been eased, the church would slowly move towards reopening.

Coopasamy said despite the many challenges they had had with trying to adjust to the new normal, they were still hopeful that members would continue attending services, whether in person or online.

“We the church of Jesus Christ remain on guard against all sicknesses and diseases that attack families and congregants who come to church to worship God.

“Our worship numbers in attendance have been affected and dwindled over the past two

years due to Covid-19 disruption to gatherings. But the church grows in spite of this great oppression.”

He said their community and the world had been affected by the pandemic and they were praying for everyone to be healthy and survive the virus.

“Many deaths, especially of pastors and poor congregants, were a reminder to myself and all our colleagues that death was and still is hovering over all of humanity. Drastic steps were taken and intense prayer tactics were instituted against the virus outbreak. Indeed this defence of the church is still much needed for ourselves, our families, our children and our students and communities.”

Coopasamy said he and the church pastor, Rogers Pillay, looked forward to welcoming their congregation and continuing with praise and worship.

“The plan of not panicking and protecting loved ones and communities has become a norm for daily life. Moving forward against the threatening and evolving new variants, which are unknown and unseen and revolving around the globe, is key.”
