Spiritual guidance is important
NAMASTE, my name is Tashmika Sewnarain, and I wish to share my journey about (studying) Hindi with you.
I would like to start off saying that 2021 was most definitely a difficult year in terms of Covid-19, looting, and other disturbances, especially for matric learners.
Even through these difficult times, I chose to remain spiritual and faithful, thanks to the power of the Hindu teachings.
I have been doing Hindi as a subject since I was in Grade 5. I am grateful that the schools I attended, Erica Primary, Apollo Secondary and Kharwastan Secondary, allowed Hindi to be part of our experience at school, although I wish it was part of our syllabus just like any other subjects with its own dedicated time.
I agree that it is not easy to handle an extra subject, especially when it is based on an unfamiliar topic, but if there is one thing that Hindi taught me, it is that spiritual guidance is important, no matter the circumstances.
One should make time to indulge in a spiritual activity, and what better way than learning the background and language of your religion, in my case Hindi.
But that doesn’t mean that others are not welcome.
Hindi consists of a variety of aspects that allows one to become more enlightened and equips them with good morals and values.
Hindi allowed me to become more confident and made my path towards my goals much clearer.
I would like to pay my gratitude towards my wonderful Hindi guru,
Mrs Sharmilla Seetal, for encouraging me to continue with Hindi and allowing me to participate in the Hindi Shiksha Sangh national exams up to the Prarambhik level, leading me to excel with a 90% final score in my matric certificate.
I wish to further my studies to a point where I gain my Master’s in Hindi and then move on to Sanskrit.
I also want to thank my parents and family for all their support and hopefully one day I’ll able to pay them back by caring for them and supporting them just like they did for me.
