Isipingo football academy set for busy season

ISIPINGO Junior Soccer Academy is reaching out to former officials, players and supporters of clubs that once played football under the banner of Isipingo & District Football Associatio­n (1918) to contribute to a football kit for two seven-a-side teams.

The kit consists of 14 jerseys, 14 pairs of shin pads, two size four footballs and two kit bags for less fortunate children.

The associatio­n invites current sponsors of Isipingo Junior Soccer Academy, Isipingo Soccer Legends and Academy Help The Needy Isipingo, to be part of this journey.

For the U6, U10, U13 & U16 age groups for boys and girls across the board, some of the team names that will be used are: Isipingo Juventus, Isipingo Beach Sporting, Ocean City, Colleens Athletics, Electra, Isipingo Suburbs, Isipingo Hills, Reunion Santos, Malabar Sports, Lincoln, City, Isipingo Sporting, Sayan Spurs, Park Spurs, Santos, Postum Lads, Lotus Heights, Lotus Park Rangers, Lotus United, Orient United, Orient Sporting, Twini Dynamoes, Strikers, Young Shepherds, Protea Power, Young Protea, TeamWestle­igh, Sunrise, Rail Suburbs, Isipingo United. Clayton Lads, Woopsy, Isipingo Old Boys, Gokulstan United and Estates,

The academy asks parents and guardians of registered children to be a Team Dad or Team Mom.

The academy plans to start the league season on May 7. A Soccer Tournament will be held in July and thereafter the league will resume until the end of October.

Isipingo Junior Soccer Academy has formed a partnershi­p with Bidvest Tank Terminals to host an astro turf 5-a-side tournament on July 30 at Kamalinee Primary School, Lotus Park, Isipingo from 9am. Entry fee is R100 per team.
