Women, children at risk

-

SOUTH Africa is a bloodbath. There is no other way to describe it. Women and children are in grave danger every day. This is a war.

According to the South African Police Service’s pre-released report on crime statistics for quarter three of 2022/23, almost all crime spiked between October and December, last year.

The killing of women increased by 22.1% from the previous year to 1 101.

That is 12 women killed every day. In addition, four children are killed every day. We see the rape of 138 people per day – that is one reported rape every 10 minutes.

During the three months, another 7 555 people were killed. More than 27 000 people have been killed during the past 12 months.

The South African Police Service does not have any preventative measures in place. We have no crime intelligence to speak of, and all the country’s detectives are severely overworked. It all flows down from the compromised senior ranks of the police.

We are in this war because of the ANC’s cadre deployment and political interference in matters concerning criminal justice. The ANC does not want the criminal justice system to work properly because they would be caught out as the biggest crime syndicate this country has seen in the past 30 years.

Action Society has advocated for various changes to the criminal justice system, with a specific list of solutions prioritising letting the incompetent Police Minister Bheki Cele go. It is time to implement workable solutions for South Africans to survive this war.
