KZN basketball players have a shot at being part of history

- ZAID BHOOLA zaid.bhoola@inl.co.za

THE South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (Sascoc) has said basketball will be included in the first African Beach Games, and the KwaZulu-Natal Basketball Association is hosting a 3x3 National Qualifying Tournament to determine which men’s and women's teams will represent the province.

This is an opportunity for South African basketball players to represent their country on the international stage and make history.

Here are five motivational quotes by legendary basketball players to inspire you to take your shot. The registration deadline is March 23:

◆ “You can’t let your failures define you. You have to let your failures teach you.” – Kobe Bryant, US.

◆ “Basketball is more than just a game, it’s

a lifestyle. Live it.” – Lebron James, US.

◆ “The only way to do great work is to love

what you do.” – Steve Nash, Canada.

◆ “Basketball is like photography, if you don’t focus, all you have is the negative.” – Dan Frisby, South Africa ◆ “I’ve missed more than 9 000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. Twenty-six times, I've been trusted to take the game-winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.” – Michael Jordan, US.

These words of wisdom emphasise the importance of hard work, perseverance, and belief in oneself. Representing South Africa at the African Beach Games will take dedication, discipline, and commitment, but it will also be an experience of a lifetime.

The KwaZulu-Natal Basketball Association is hosting the 3x3 National Qualifying Tournament at the Ballito Edessy Mall on March 25. The top men’s and women’s teams will have the opportunity to represent the province at the African Beach Games in Hammamet, Tunisia, in June.

The registration deadline has been extended to March 23.
