Teams don’t care

- LOGAN GOVENDER Yellowwood Park

I AM RESPONDING to the letter sent in by Thyagaraj Markandan in POST (March 8-12, 2023), regarding the hiding that Liverpool gave Manchester United.

All I want to say is the result is correct, it was a game that Manchester United was not proud of, but at the end of the day it is another game in that we lost three points.

But Mr Markandan is like other Liverpool supporters, they are threatened by Manchester United’s emergence under Erik Ten Hag our new manager. He has taken this team to another level with more work to be done. This loss will not derail our progress.

The only reason the game was lost was due to tired minds and bodies with the number of games that this team has been playing. Unlike Liverpool who are only playing every alternate week’s Champions League and weekend EPL games. But their supporters think after beating Manchester United they are back.

To their disappointment just a week on, the same team who played impeccably against Manchester United lost dismally to a weak Bournemouth team languishing at the bottom of the EPL (makes no sense).

They seem to only rise when they play Manchester United for their beloved Kopp and Klopp. We all await their heroics against Real Madrid. Let’s see their strengths, unfortunately, they are playing in Spain and not at their beloved Anfield.

Mr Markandan, we are all supporters of these beloved teams, but they don’t know we exist.

As long as we buy their shirts and watch them on TV to pay their wages, they don’t really care.

Stop being childish and keep supporting the great Liverpool team – and this is coming from a Manchester United supporter because I appreciate football and talent.
