Calling all businesses …

-

has been inundated with emails from people looking for work following our “Recruit me” initiative.

The initiative will provide job seekers with a free platform to showcase their skills and expertise.

The first batch will be published next week in our April 19-23 edition. Thereafter, it will be published in the third edition of every month.

According to Statistics South Africa, our country has an unemployment rate of 32.7%. It is expected to creep higher this year to more than 35%, making South Africa the country with the highest unemployment rate globally.

Aakash Bramdeo, POST editor, said: “Recruit Me is our attempt to help the unemployed find work while at the same time help businesses find the right talent. We know how difficult it is finding work in South Africa, especially for those who come from minority communities. The sheer volume of responses we have already received indicates just how dire the situation is.

“Within the first few days we received dozens of emails from people looking for work. Many of these individuals are highly qualified, some with law, accounting and science degrees, but they have not been able to find work.

“Most were young and had no experience but there were also some who were more mature and looking for better prospects.

“We are also hoping that through this initiative business owners find the talent they are looking for to grow their own business. I would encourage entrepreneurs, corporates and professions to get involved and, where possible, give someone a chance.

“We need to help young people in particular find work to ensure we have a better tomorrow.”

If you are looking for a job, email post@inl.co.za with the following information: your full name, age, contact number, highest qualification, three skills, your experience in your field of interest, and the area you would like to work in. The subject line must clearly state: RECRUIT ME.
