Trip could suit Teatime Tipple

- ANDREW HARRISON

THE action switches to the Hollywoodbets Greyville poly track today where punters are faced with a competitive card. Teatime Tipple has been costly to follow by Stuart Ferrie’s charge may be worth one more chance as he steps up to seven furlongs for the first time in the card opener. The experiment with blinkers did not go as planned and they come off. The two-year-olds are now being stepped out in open company and the filly Glamorz and the colt Always Shining could prove forward enough to put the brakes on their older rivals.

Spies

Visiting Highveld trainer Corne Spies has many runners on the day and the first of these is Zoombomber in the second. He has been racing over much further but is down in class and trip and has run well on the poly. Justfortheepenny is always game and is back on his favourite surface and should put in a good shift.

Purple Flower looks to be one of the better bets on the card and could be a banker in the opening leg of the Pick 6. She was touched off over course and distance last time out, has the best of the draw and could prove difficult to beat. Dangers include Tannen Princess who is lightly raced but has shown some promise while two-year-old Radiant Heat has some promising juvenile form and does not meet a strong field.

In the fourth, Pretty Analia ran well below form last start with a claiming apprentice up from a wide draw. She has the best of the draw here and S’Manga Khumalo to help her home.

Golden Aspen

Golden Aspen is a veteran back on her favourite surface. She takes a rating drop and should be competitive while Vision Of Will has consistent sprint form but may now be looking for this trip.

Wayne Badenhorst saddles English Rose who seldom runs a bad race and goes well over course and distance. She has a handy weight, a good draw and Chase Maujean stays with the ride in preference to regular mount Drive By. Perfect Trust finished ahead of English Primrose when last they met but the step down in trip could suit the former. Global Secret made a smart return from a lay-off when narrowly beaten over course and distance last time out. She can go one better.

Petit Verdot has been knocking at the door for her next win and can get it when back over her preferred course and distance in the sixth. Spring Kiss tries for a winning hat-trick and looks a big threat as she only got a four-point raise for her last win. Baby On Board has a wide draw to contend with but she is over her favourite course and distance.

Allaroundtheworld

Allaroundtheworld could prove to be another exotic banker in the seventh. He has come good since Gary Rich tried him over ground and although he got an eight-point increase for his last win he looks capable of more. Few Dollars More has good form over course and distance and could be a threat while Only A Poet showed up well first run out of the maidens in first time blinkers. He looks progressive.

The last is a bit of a minefield. Chara Sands was beaten by his stable companion Bless Me Fred at his last two but he is quick and switches to the poly. Mask On has had two promising showings since a break and should strip close to his peak and is likely to start at lengthy odds. Hippocrates is never far off them. He has a handy galloping weight although he may prefer it a touch further. Stanley Park switches to the poly but and has a wide draw but is over his best trip.
