● March 2014: Twenty-three people from Roshnee, Johannesburg, were leaving for Raqqa, a city in Syria, to fight. They included men and families. Eleven of them were stopped at OR Tambo International Airport and sent back home.
● April 2015: A 16-year-old was allegedly recruited online, but was stopped at the same airport and sent home.
● July 2016: The Thulsie twins were arrested. Fatima Patel was also arrested with the brothers and later released.
● February 2018: Ron and Rachel Saunders went missing. Fatima Patel and her husband, Sayfyden Aslam Del Vecchio, were arrested and charged with murder.
