While Dubai is best known for its modern marvels of the bricks, mortar, steel, and lights persuasion, as well as superb shopping experiences and exciting night life, the largest and most populous city in the United Arab Emirates has decided to add another, completely different tourist attraction to its repertoire. The emirate has ambitious plans for a desert park spanning 10% of the total landscape of Dubai, due to open in 2030. Dubbed the Marmoon Reserve project, the new park will house an incredible 10 km of lakes, including Al Qudra Lakes. The park will host a multitude of exciting activities every year, including desert wildlife trips, sunset observation decks, areas for yoga, and an outdoor theatre powered only by solar energy.
