Buchu: Cure of the Cape

Premier Magazine (South AFrica) - - Travel -

Growing nowhere else in the world apart from on the rocky slopes of the Cederberg in the Cape, Buchu is a Fynbos plant with a host of medicinal properties. Referred to globally as a “miracle plant”, Buchu is best known for its anti-inflammatory and pain relief properties. The plant also lowers blood pressure, blood-sugar levels, and is a natural antiseptic and antihistamine. For a behind-the-scenes look at how it is grown, visit Skimmelberg Farm just outside Citrusdal for an informative farm tour (by appointment) and to purchase some Buchu-infused products, including an array of Buchulife lifestyle and health products, detox teas, and Ricky Litchfield dog products. Spend the night at the nearby Cederberg Park at Kromrivier that offers both luxury campsites and selfcatering chalets.
