Piper Heidsieck
Most Awarded Champagne House Worldwide
Henry Tayler & Ries (HTR) recently welcomed the Piper Heidsieck champagne range, including its limitededition Cinema Edition Brut to its portfolio. Now, more South Africans can sip on the same bubbly as the
Hollywood stars with a glass of Piper Heidsieck in hand.
The origin of Piper Heidsieck traces to 1785. Germanborn founder, Florence-louis Heidsieck, became known among locals as a captivating suitor behind his irresistible wine. Today, Piper Heidsieck is the most awarded champagne house worldwide. It has earned its audacious, innovative, and self-expressive characteristics from several iconic individuals including the likes of the Queen of France, Marie Antoinette (1774 to 1793), and the adoration of Marilyn Monroe. Today, the portfolio is present in over 100 countries.
The Cinema Edition Brut aptly associates the track record of the Piper Heidsieck movie theatre since 1933 when a bottle of champagne made its debut on the silver screen. Piper Heidsieck continues to support the arts, keeping a strong presence in and beyond Hollywood. For more than 20 years, it has been the champagne of choice at the International Cannes Film Festival. In the last six years, Piper Heidsieck appeared in more than 50 movies. The admired ‘darling of Hollywood’ continues its on-screen legacy as it recently partnered with the 93rd Oscars (25 April 2021) as its official celebratory drink. It is the seventh consecutive year during which the champagne house retain this partnership.
Now, South Africans can enjoy the same signature Cuvée Brut the leading stars of the world continue to sip at one of the most momentous occasions in entertainment.
“Piper Heidsieck has allowed us to introduce South Africans to more internationally recognised wines they can appreciate and relate to,” says Wesley Collison, trade marketing manager at Henry Tayler& Ries. “The champagne house has an extraordinary story as one of the most prestigious cuvées in the world. Being able to share it with locals under the Henry Tayler & Ries title is a privilege and an exciting journey we look forward to.”
After Piper Heidsieck joined Henry Tayler & Ries, approximately 1 300 bottles of its signature Cuvée Brut has been released to major liquor outlets across South Africa.
The ‘signature Cuvée of the House’ (Cinema Edition) consists of 50-55% Pinot Noir, 30-35% Meunier, and 15-20% Chardonnay. Structured with a refreshing infusion of pomelo, blonde, and white fruits, the champagne provides a delightfully light sensation and is beautifully balanced with the depth of the Pinot Noir. Displaying lively bubbles behind a gold shimmer, the Brut showcases notes of almond and fresh hazelnut. While leaving a light, artful, yet well-rounded sensation on the palate. Hints of fresh pear, apple, and citrus are unmistakable.
Ideal for those who prefer bubbles with a little more heft and volume, the champagne asserts bold flavours but is still easy to drink. It pairs perfectly with crisp salads, seafood, bland cheeses, and red and white meats.
Chill the champagne in the bottom of the fridge for approximately four hours. Alternatively, fill a champagne bucket with half cold water and half ice cubes. Add a spoonful of salt. For pairing with appetisers, ensure the champagne is chilled to 8 °C. For food pairings, an ideal temperature of 10 °C is recommended.
The Cinema Edition Cuvée Brut is available from R699 at all major liquor retailers. Follow @piper_heidsieck on Instagram and Facebook. Visit www.piper-heidsieck.com for more information.
