Pretoria News Weekend - - NEWS -

A 61-YEAR-old man was this week sentenced to 15 years imprisonment by the Tsomo Regional Magistrate’s Court for the rape of a 5-year-old girl more than two years ago.

Eastern Cape police spokesperson Captain Jackson Manatha confirmed Mzimkhulu Sotomela was sentenced on Wednesday.

The girl was playing with friends in February 2016 in Tyinirha village, Ngqamakhwe when Sotomela called her to his house where he raped her.

A case was registered and taken over by the Butterworth Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit for investigation, leading to the arrest of Sotomela. – African News Agency (ANA)
