Recharge the turbines
MOTORHAPPY, a division of the Imperial group, teamed up with the 5-star Turbine Boutique Hotel and Spa to highlight road tripping along the Garden Route, namely the Thesen Island in Knysna.
Ultimate Journey, now in its second year, is calling on South Africans to map out their favourite local destinations on to its website at www.ultimatejourney. co.za and stand a chance to win a R80 000 road trip in a Kia Sportage SUV on loan for the special journey.
Those who vote for their favourite spot will also stand a chance to scoop the prize (terms and conditions apply). The Turbine Boutique Hotel and Spa was an ambitious project which transformed an old power station into a unique 5-star boutique hotel in Knysna.
All the old machinery which was used in this power station has been lovingly restored and forms an integral part of the hotel’s aesthetics.
There is always plenty to do in Knysna. Aside from kayaking in the canals or paragliding from the mountains across the beautiful bays, there are also many festivals from the Antique & Classic Boat show and the Eden Kite Festival in October to the Leisure Isle Festival, a genuine craft market where visitors are encouraged to “buy local”, and the Knysna Extreme Triathlon in November. The Turbine Spa has a wide range of treatments for day visitors and hotel guests, and the hotel’s very own adventure centre, the Turbine Water Club, arranges a variety of waterand land-based activities such as lagoon cruises, forest walks and bicycle hire.
