Police officers should have assessments

Pretoria News - - OPINION -

ANOTHER police officer kills his wife and then takes his own life!

I lived in the apartheid era, but I don’t recall police killing loved ones and themselves, yet those times were potentially more stressful than today for policemen.

I wonder whether potential officers should have in-depth psychological analyses and a close scrutiny of their past criminal and other history, for it seems there are too many incidents of the above killings and of police using their positions for criminal acts, to the detriment of our trust of them.
