‘Ter­ror­ist’ drone at­tacks in Syria

DA­M­AS­CUS: Fires broke out at sev­eral oil and gas fa­cil­i­ties in cen­tral Syria af­ter they were at­tacked by drones, Min­is­ter of Oil and Min­eral Re­sources Ali Ghanem said yes­ter­day, blam­ing ter­ror­ists.

The Homs re­fin­ery and three other nat­u­ral gas fa­cil­i­ties were at­tacked at dawn, caus­ing fire and ma­te­rial dam­age, Ghanem said.

Fire­fight­ers were able to ex­tin­guish the fires, and tech­ni­cal teams have al­ready started “main­te­nance works” and man­aged to en­sure the con­ti­nu­ity of gas flow to the plants, Ghanem said.

No group has so far claimed re­spon­si­bil­ity for the at­tacks.
