PRESIDENT’S STATE OF THE NATION ADDRESS
PRESIDENT Cyril Ramaphosa will deliver the State of the Nation Address at 7pm today before a joint sitting of the two Houses of Parliament.
The president will take the nation into his confidence on the way forward, set the tone on critical matters and report back to South Africans on the progress since his last address in June last year.
The address builds on the success of the 2019 general elections, which served to renew and strengthen our democracy. He will also use the opportunity to chart the course for the implementation of the electoral mandate as reflected in the 2019-24 Medium Term Strategic Framework.
Since it is a Joint Sitting of both Houses, the Speaker of the National Assembly and the chairperson of the National Council of Provinces will host the event.
All the three arms of the state – the legislature, executive and the judiciary – attend this event.
As one of the important ceremonies of the state, it is broadcast live so that the general population get the chance to watch it. It will also be broadcast live on South African Government Facebook and Twitter account as well and on DStv Channel 408, SABC TV, eNCA, SABC radio stations and South African Government YouTube Channel.
