Stars raise mil­lions for bushfire re­lief

SYD­NEY: Tens of thou­sands of peo­ple rocked out at Syd­ney’s largest sta­dium yes­ter­day for a star-stud­ded bushfire re­lief con­cert.

Some 75 000 peo­ple at­tended the

con­cert, a 10-hour mas­sive show of sup­port for the bushfire-rav­aged com­mu­ni­ties.

The ben­e­fit con­cert raised $9.5 mil­lion (R95m), the or­gan­is­ers said.

Bri­tish rock band Queen with Amer­i­can head­liner Adam Lam­bert reprised their 1985 set for the con­cert. They were joined by global acts Alice Cooper and kd lang.

Ru­ral Fire Ser­vice re­ceived 1000 free tick­ets for their vol­un­teer fire­fight­ers.
