Beatrice scales down wedding festivities
LONDON: Princess Beatrice is scaling back plans for her forthcoming wedding – and might even postpone the nuptials.
The queen’s granddaughter and her fiance Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are considering whether to hold an intimate family ceremony.
Royal officials said they will “carefully consider” government advice on coronavirus precautions before deciding. But they have announced that even if this goes ahead, they are cancelling the reception in the gardens at Buckingham Palace on May 29.
Beatrice, daughter of the duke and duchess of York and ninth in line to the throne, is keen to have her elderly grandmother present.
But yesterday’s royal statement said the couple were “particularly conscious of the government’s advice in relation to both the wellbeing of older family members and large gatherings of people”.
The couple would hold a small ceremony with a handful of family members at the Chapel Royal in St James’s Palace.
