ASMALLS CONTINUES TACKLING THE POTHOLES

- Shorné Bennie

Motorists travelling on Barnsley Road, Campsdrift can now be thankful that the large gaping potholes have been fixed for their safety, thanks once again to Mohammed Asmall’s continued efforts.

Last month, the Director of Asmalls conducted repairs to the potholes on Old Howick Road. He has continued to ease the path for others by recently repairing the pothole on the well-travelled Campsdrift road as well.

“We saw the pothole and it was quite huge, so we decided to sort it out like with the other areas. We contacted Honicorp Asphalting to conduct the repairs. Due to the inclement weather they started on Monday and they were finished within the day. This is beneficial for us and the community as we have a store and distribution center in the vicinity.

“We know that the people will be safe, they won’t have incidents with punctured tyres, damaged rims or axles. We must follow the spirit of doing good for others, and remove difficulty and danger in others’ paths,” Asmall said.

He added that it is still the responsibility of the Msunduzi Municipality to fix the potholes.

“This is still something that needs to be done by the municipality, there is incompetence from their side with service to the city,” said Asmall.

Deidre Rajah, who travels in the area on a daily basis, thanked Asmalls for their contribution to the community.

“For months we had to endure big and wide potholes that were situated on a bend as well. This made commuting very dangerous, awkward and inconvenient. I would like to thank Asmalls for their social development initiative and action to repair the road. Asmalls, not only do you offer affordably priced apparel, but you look after the safety of the commuters, thank you!” said Rajah.

City Spokesperson, Thobeka Mafumbatha, applauded Asmalls for his contribution to the city.

“We really do appreciate the work that is being done. We applaud the work of Mr Asmall with his contribution and commitment to the city. Once again, we support public and private partnerships. Other businesses who would like to assist must come forward,” said Mafumbatha.
